I knew it was a problem when I first picked at the skin. Just a flap of dry skin hanging at the bottom heal of my foot. I picked at it more and it started to bleed like a hang nail. But that didn't mean I would have to go to emergency.
Normally I'm not a hygienic type of person, so I can see why it ended up the way it did. I tend to ignore my body and continue writing. Being a world renowned author takes all your time up you know. I felt burning, itching pain around the torn skin. But I chose to ignore it for the time being. My novel held a higher priority. Gross, my whole place is gross to most people with trash everywhere and bugs crawling in every corner. I guess that's how I got maggots eating through the flesh of my heel. Flies hovered over it with pus rupturing now and then. But I still sat there at the computer.
